Incursion – Indigenous Healing and Nutrition

June 8, 2022

The bush food, called bush ‘tucker’ in Australia, eaten by the Aboriginal people of Australia usually falls into a few different groups.

It can be traditional food from animals or what we mostly think of, which is food from plants. Not only is it a variety of native fruits but also edible seeds and plants. It can also include grubs and insects but also honey and nectars found in both insects and flowers.

During this fascinating incursion children will taste, smell, and feel real bush tucker and medicine. They will learn how these local plants played an important role with Aboriginal people and the animals that live around Greater Sydney.
