After School Activities Results In Coachable Kids

September 10, 2022

After school activities give a lot of room for improving children’s behaviour. Incursions, excursions, school holidays programs and vacation care activities providers work hand in hand with the academe and other educators to shape our young ones. With the proper variety and mix, children who went through these tend to socialise more, and be introduced and interested in more things.

As a parent, you probably want your child to be as successful as possible. This is both in life and their careers. It usually starts with if and how they play sports. And, as any good coach will tell you, it’s important to have a player who is willing and able to learn and improve. But how can you tell if your child is ready to be coached? And what are the benefits of having a coachable child?

Here are the four signs to look out for that show that your child is ready to play sports:

  1. Your child likes new experiences and challenges.
  2. Your child has a strong work ethic and sense of motivation.
  3. Your child is able to learn from their mistakes.
  4. Your child has a positive outlook on the game and is willing to play to win, rather than just playing to have fun.

Once you have established that your child is ready, you can start coaching them and teaching them the skills they need to improve their game. This will help them reach their full potential on the field or on the court, and maybe even earn a college scholarship one day. If your child enjoys learning new things and wants to improve at sports then he or she might be coachable.

Coachable kids are easier to talk to. They have a mindset that training hard will eventually lead to success. They are self-aware and have an innate sense of responsibility and accountability, hence, they take steps to improve and be better each time. They know how to accept words of encouragement and stern direction. They are adaptable and are open to feedback. Coachable children become trainable adults. Trainable adults are receptive to change and taking on new challenges. Skills can be developed, attitudes are a lot harder to change.
